A modern rehabilitation centre to be created at the university hospital in Lviv

A modern rehabilitation centre is planned to be created in Lviv on the grounds of the university hospital of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. The facility will be arranged on Yurii Ruf Street, where the ophthalmology department is currently located.

The project envisages a complete reconstruction of the existing single-storey building with an additional two storeys to be built on top. Once the work is completed, up to 50 patients will be able to undergo rehabilitation at the centre at the same time.

Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and the Czech company MND Ukraine have officially begun implementing this project. The cooperation agreement was reached in the summer during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, and the parties have now signed a contract under which the Czech partners will fund the construction and equipment of the rehabilitation unit.

In the renovated building, treatment rooms will be located on the ground floor, while the two upper floors will house patient wards, recreation areas and technical rooms. The centre is planned to provide a full cycle of care: treatment after severe injuries, wounds and strokes, subsequent rehabilitation, and, where necessary, prosthetics of upper and lower limbs and recovery following prosthetic fitting.

The total cost of the project is 230 million hryvnias. The need for such rehabilitation centres is linked to the large number of service personnel and civilians who have suffered severe injuries and require timely, qualified care close to home.
