A unique operating theatre for foetal medicine has been opened at the Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Centre. This allows doctors to diagnose and perform complex surgeries even before the child is born. Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, announced that the new direction includes foetal treatment.
Advanced equipment has been purchased for this purpose, including an endoscopic stand and two fetoscopes with working channels, costing nearly 20 million UAH from the regional budget. Kozytskyi’s charitable foundation donated a modern laser worth about 10 million UAH to the centre, necessary for the correction of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome in multiple pregnancies.
Lviv’s medical professionals have already undergone training at the Foetal Medicine Clinic of the Medical University of Warsaw, with further experience to be gained from leading clinics in Spain, Poland, and the USA. The head of the Lviv region thanked the centre’s team, led by Mariya Malachynska, for their contribution to the development of world-class medicine.
