In Lviv, a premature baby girl who was born weighing 620 grammes has been discharged home

At the Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Centre, after 112 days of care, baby girl Khrystynka, who was born at 24 weeks of pregnancy weighing just 620 grammes, has been discharged home.

Due to profound immaturity, the baby spent more than two months in the intensive care unit, for most of this time requiring mechanical ventilation to support her breathing. A multidisciplinary team of doctors monitored the child’s condition daily, providing all the necessary treatment and care.

After her condition stabilised, Khrystynka was transferred to the second stage of care in the neonatal post-intensive care and premature baby unit, where she began to gain weight steadily.

At the time of discharge home, the baby’s weight was 2,470 grammes, almost four times more than at birth. A large team of medical staff who had been looking after the child throughout this time gathered to see the family off and share the parents’ joy.

The Lviv Regional Perinatal Centre notes that the facility has all the necessary conditions and equipment to provide specialised care for mother and child, even in the most complex cases, within a single medical institution.
