Health Week draws to a close in Lviv: medical tents open for one more day

In Lviv, the Health Week campaign is drawing to a close, during which residents of the community can undergo basic medical check-ups free of charge in specially installed tents. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.

According to the head of the city health department, Marta Matiushko, in just the first four days thousands of people visited the medical tents. Many visitors were found to have high blood pressure, risks of cardiovascular disease, impaired visual acuity and elevated glucose levels – in other words, common conditions which at an early stage may not present with clear symptoms.

During the campaign, a range of free examinations is available, including:

  • measuring blood pressure;
  • checking blood glucose levels;
  • assessing cardiovascular disease risks;
  • having an electrocardiogram;
  • testing for HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B and C;
  • testing for Helicobacter pylori;
  • checking eyesight and intraocular pressure;
  • undergoing digital screening for diabetic retinopathy;
  • receiving a dental consultation;
  • having a dermatological examination;
  • being tested for colour blindness;
  • having a PSA test to identify risks of prostate disease in men;
  • determining blood group and Rhesus factor.

The medical tents will remain open today from 10:00 to 15:00. A detailed list of locations is available on the website of the Lviv City Council.
