Quarantine introduced in the village of Hrushiv in the Yavoriv community after rabies case

A case of rabies in a domestic animal has been recorded in the village of Hrushiv in the Yavoriv community: a calf died after being bitten by a fox. As a result, the anti-epizootic commission has introduced quarantine restrictions in the settlement for a period of 60 days. They apply to Hrushiv and the surrounding area within a radius of 5 km.

Specialists from the veterinary service are carrying out the necessary anti-epizootic measures. In particular, they are vaccinating domestic animals against rabies, conducting house-to-house visits, updating animal records and identifying people who may have come into contact with potentially dangerous animals.

Residents are urged to follow safety rules:

  • do not have contact with wild and stray animals that display unusual or aggressive behaviour;
  • do not pick up such animals or stroke them;
  • in the event of a bite or any contact with a suspicious animal, seek medical attention immediately;
  • report any animals suspected of having rabies to the local elder or the veterinary service.

Doctors and veterinarians emphasise that seeking help in good time and vaccinating domestic animals are key steps in preventing the spread of rabies.
