On 11 June, a mobile blood donation session will take place on Rynok Square in the centre of Lviv to support military personnel and civilian patients of the First Lviv Territorial Medical Association hospitals.
Blood will be collected from 09:15 to 12:15 in a mobile blood centre — a specially equipped bus that will be operating next to Lviv City Hall (pl. Rynok, 1). On site, donors will be able to undergo the necessary screening and give blood in just a few minutes.
The donation is being organised as part of the campaign “Your blood. My life. Our victory”. The initiative is being implemented by the Veteran Media team with the support of Narodna Samooborona Lvivshchyny, medical staff of the First Lviv Territorial Medical Association and the Eskulab laboratory network. The event is dedicated to World Blood Donor Day, which is marked every year on 14 June.
Additional activities have been prepared for visitors: there will be an entertainment area for children run by Dragon Park, adults will be offered a practical lesson in pre-medical first aid, a photo zone will be set up, and participants in the campaign will be treated by Cafe Rynok.
Anyone aged between 18 and 60, weighing at least 50 kg and with no medical contraindications can become a donor. With one donation, a person gives about 450 ml of blood.
Doctors advise avoiding fatty foods and alcohol for 24 hours before the procedure, and in the morning having a light breakfast and drinking sweet tea. After donating, it is recommended to rest more, drink plenty of fluids and avoid heavy physical exertion during the day.
The organisers ask those wishing to donate to register online in advance to reduce queues and help plan the work of the medical team. At the same time, those who come without an appointment will also be able to give blood, provided this is possible within the mobile centre’s working hours.
