In Zolochiv, during an outreach blood donation campaign held on Tuesday, 15 September, 150 residents gave blood. This figure set a record for the outreach team of the Lviv Regional Blood Service Centre in terms of the number of donors within a single campaign.
The event was organised by a mobile team from the municipal non-profit enterprise of the Lviv Regional Council “Lviv Regional Blood Service Centre”. Staff from Zolochiv Central District Hospital also joined in the organisation.
“We would like to thank all the residents of Zolochiv district who came to donate blood. Every donation helps to meet the needs of patients who require transfusions,” noted the Lviv Regional Blood Service Centre.
The Lviv Regional Blood Service Centre reminds the public that outreach donor events continue to be held in the region. Anyone interested can also become a donor directly at the Centre at: Lviv, 65 Pekarska Street.
Healthcare professionals emphasise that donor blood is needed both for military personnel and civilians, for adults and children alike, as well as for patients after complex operations and injuries. Donation is a safe procedure and is carried out under the supervision of medical staff. Any healthy adult can donate blood after undergoing the necessary medical examination. A single donation can help several patients at once.
