Opening of a Pharmacy at the Central City Hospital: Details and Plans

Opening of a Pharmacy at the Hospital: New Opportunities for Patients

Earlier, we reported on the pharmacy that is planned to be opened at the Central City Hospital. According to the deputy director of the facility, Iryna Polyhach, the decision to establish pharmacies was made at the level of the National Security and Defense Council and is enshrined in the Decree of the President of Ukraine. Its goal is to provide Ukrainians with affordable medicines at fair prices. According to the plan, such a pharmacy is to be at every medical institution.

Preparation for Opening

The Department of Health of LOVA has approved the schedule for opening pharmacies as structural subdivisions of hospitals. At the Central City Hospital, the room has already been designated and renovation works are underway.

“It was not easy to find a suitable room. Several important projects have already been implemented in the clinic — in particular, the military medical commission has been relocated and an ECO PFO has been created. Many offices are already in use. Additionally, the pharmacy must meet specific licensing requirements — its area cannot be less than 50 square meters. Thus, we could not utilize just any available room,” – noted Iryna Polyhach.

Contractors promise to complete the renovation by May 9. A pharmacist has already been hired to handle the documentation for obtaining the license. All processes — renovation, paperwork, and staff training — are taking place simultaneously. It is expected that the pharmacy will start operating on May 23.

According to Iryna Polyhach, the final order of the pharmacy’s operation and the mechanism for purchasing medicines remain unregulated for now — the relevant regulatory documents are still awaited.
