A state-of-the-art Quantra haemostasis analyser is now operating at the University Hospital, enabling clinicians within minutes to assess how a patient’s blood clotting system is functioning and to detect any possible disorders.
The device uses elastometry technology: it analyses how a blood clot forms and how strong it is, and also evaluates the contribution of platelets and fibrinogen. Clinicians receive the first test results in approximately 15–20 minutes.
Rapid diagnostics of blood clotting status helps doctors to make well-founded treatment decisions promptly, in particular to select the necessary medications and their dosages.
The equipment is especially valuable in cardiac surgery, during transplant procedures, in cases of massive bleeding and trauma, as well as in intensive care units. Thanks to Quantra, clinicians can more accurately determine each patient’s needs and carry out targeted correction of clotting disorders, which improves the timeliness and quality of medical care.
