The famous American transplantologist Robert Montgomery, who himself lives with a donor heart, will come to Lviv for the fifth time

On Tuesday, September 26, together with the transplant specialists of the First Medical Association of Lviv, the American transplant specialist Robert Montgomery will once again transplant vital organs to Ukrainian patients during his fifth visit to Lviv.

This time, a great friend of Ukraine, a record-holder doctor from the Guinness Book of Records, will perform a family kidney transplant. He will collect a life-saving donor organ with the help of a Da Vinci robotic surgeon. He will operate at the Saint Panteleimon Hospital.

“We have not done this before. This is a very valuable experience for us – to operate with a legend of world transplantology. Therefore, we are preparing for the operation, have determined the composition of the operating teams and are waiting for the results of laboratory studies of the donor pairs,” says the head of the Transplantology Center, Maksym Ovechko.

During his visit to the USA, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Robert Montgomery with the Order of Merit III degree for his significant personal contribution to the strengthening of interstate cooperation, support of state sovereignty, territorial integrity of Ukraine, and popularization of the Ukrainian state in the world.
