A 17-year-old girl from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, who was injured as a result of shelling by Russians, was evacuated from Lviv to Austria

The doctors of Dnipro, Kyiv and Lviv fought for the life of 17-year-old Nastia Prygonets for a long time. On Independence Day, the girl was injured as a result of shelling of the Chaplyne station in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

She suffered 25% burns to her hands and feet, a brain injury and complex mine-explosive injuries. Now she was evacuated to Austria for further treatment.

17-year-old Nastya barely managed to get out of the burning car. It happened on Independence Day, when the girl and her parents came under fire. Mother and father died then. Nastya stayed in the car with her parents until the end, because she expected them to pass out. But when the fire reached her seat, she unfastened her seat belt and jumped outside. That day, the whole country learned: four passenger cars, nearby buildings, and cars were on fire in the Dnipropetrovsk region. 25 dead, including 2 children, 50 injured.

From the Dnipro, where doctors first fought for the girl’s life, she was taken to the capital’s Okhmatdyt. Then – to St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv. Here, the team of disaster medicine, together with the team of the children’s intensive care unit of the hospital, prepared Nastya for further evacuation to Austria. The girl was connected to the supply of the necessary drugs, all vital signs were checked and the need for additional dialysis sessions was checked. Her condition was complicated by kidney failure and blood infection.

Nastya’s evacuation to Austria took place with the help of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine, and volunteers of the Life Saving Center.

Because of Russian aggression, hundreds of people suffer every day, so in order to make their treatment and rehabilitation comfortable and accessible in Ukraine, UNBROKEN is creating an ecosystem of support and care for people in Lviv.
