The prevalence of tick bites and Lyme disease is rapidly increasing, as confirmed by recent data. The Sheptytska City Council has reported that in 2025, there have already been 31 cases of this infection. This was announced by Oksana Slyvinska, Deputy Head of the District Department of the “Lviv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”, as reported by the Sheptytska City Council.
Lyme disease, caused by bacteria, is transmitted by ixodid ticks and can seriously affect the skin, joints, heart, and nervous system. Due to the invisibility of ticks on the body, the consequences of their bite can be severe if immediate medical attention is not sought.
If, after spending time in nature or contact with a tick, you develop symptoms such as ring-shaped skin redness, general weakness, high temperature, or a severe headache, you should seek medical advice without delay.
