Police detain foreigners for robbery of a minor in Lviv region
Law enforcement officers seized a pistol and a revolver with ammunition, cold brew, and ammunition for automatic weapons from the offenders. They face imprisonment for up to fifteen years with confiscation of property.
On April 30, at about 10 p.m., a 16-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk reported to the 102 operational line that he had been attacked by two men near the village of Novyi Yar. The attackers took the victim’s Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle at gunpoint and fled. According to the applicant, one of the attackers drove off on his motorcycle, while the other took off in a Nissan X-Trail.
A special police operation “Interception” was immediately launched in the Lviv region. Officers of all police services and units of the Lviv region were involved in the search for and detention of the attackers.
Having studied the video surveillance footage of the Safe Lviv Region system, the officers of the Lviv Police Dispatch Department established the route of the offenders’ movement and their whereabouts. The patrol police detained the suspects on the territory of a gas station on Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street in Lviv.
The investigative team of the Yavoriv District Police Department and operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Police were working at the scene. The detainees have been identified as two foreigners aged 24 and 25, temporarily residing in Kyiv.
The police seized a pistol and a revolver with ammunition, cold brew, and ammunition for automatic weapons.
Law enforcement officers seized the physical evidence and sent it for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The vehicles were also seized and taken to the impound lot.
Investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office, opened a criminal proceeding under Part 4 of Art. 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to fifteen years with confiscation of property.
The criminals were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
