
On 27 May in Lviv, a city farewell ceremony will be held for servicemen Andrii Bereziuk and Yurii Mozil, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The City Council calls on Lviv residents and visitors to join the farewell and to refrain at this time from entertainment events and celebrations.
The farewell to Andrii Bereziuk will begin at 09:30 at the Church of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God at 175 Lychakivska Street. The funeral service for both soldiers will take place at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, after which, at approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.
The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the Field of Honour No. 87 on Pasichna Street.
Yurii Mozil (09.03.1970 — 26.02.2024) was a native of Lviv. He studied at Lviv Boarding School No. 7 in a sports class specialising in football and later at the Lviv Fire-Technical College of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (now the Lviv State University of Life Safety). He completed compulsory military service and worked as a plumber at SoftServe Digital LLC.
According to his family, Yurii Mozil was kind, courageous and sociable, had many friends, was passionate about football, and was known for his sincerity and love of life; he was always ready to support others. He was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation and, with the onset of the full-scale invasion, took up arms to defend Ukraine. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the Donetsk sector as part of the 184th Training Centre of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was awarded the medals “War Veteran” and “Participant in Combat Operations”. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, grandson, sister, nephew, aunt, cousins and extended family.
Andrii Bereziuk (26.10.1985 — 21.05.2026) was born in the village of Kulykiv in Lviv region. He studied at the Kulykiv Support Institution of General Secondary Education I–III Degrees of the Kulykiv Settlement Council of Lviv District, and later qualified as a mechanic at the Dobrotvir Vocational Lyceum. He worked at Gal-Kat PJSC.
According to his family, Andrii Bereziuk was fond of fishing, travelling and car mechanics. He was kind, positive and caring, a devoted family man known for his sincerity and love of life. He was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. After the start of the full-scale invasion by the Russian occupiers, he defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Northern Slobozhanskyi, Kursk and Dnipropetrovsk sectors as part of the 80th Separate Air Assault Galician Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was awarded the medals “ATO Participant” and “War Veteran”, as well as a distinction of the 80th Separate Air Assault Galician Brigade. He is survived by his wife, mother, son, daughter, sisters and extended family.
