On Wednesday, 29 July, a city farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv for servicemen Ihor Okis and Anton Stabrovskyi, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The city authorities call on Lviv residents and visitors to join the farewell and to refrain at this time from entertainment events and celebrations.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. Warrior Ihor Okis will be laid to rest at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the field of honourable burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street. Anton Stabrovskyi will rest at Holosko Cemetery, in plot 34-V.
Ihor Okis (15.06.1980 – 04.05.2026) was born in the village of Shainohy in Lviv region. He studied at the Vuzlivskyi hub institution of general secondary education and at secondary school No. 63 in Lviv. He received his vocational education at the separate structural unit “Lviv Vocational College of Food and Processing Industry of the National University of Food Technologies” and at the National University of Food Technologies.
After his studies, he worked at the private joint-stock company “Halka”, as well as at the limited liability company “Epicentr K”. His family remember Ihor as a kind, sincere, caring and positive person who was always ready to help others. In his free time, he enjoyed playing football, fishing, spending time in nature, picking mushrooms and being in the forest.
In 2024, Ihor joined the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders, taking up arms to protect his Homeland from Russia’s full-scale invasion. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Southern-Slobozhanske sector as part of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The warrior was awarded the medal “War Veteran”. Ihor Okis is survived by his mother, son, sister, godmother, close friends and other relatives.
Anton Stabrovskyi (12.09.1987 – 18.12.2025) was a Lviv resident. He studied at Lyceum No. 6 in Lviv and later graduated from the Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture. He devoted a significant part of his life to swimming.
Anton was a member of Ukraine’s national Paralympic swimming team and a Ukrainian international master of sport. In 2006, he became world champion in relay swimming and a bronze medallist at the World Championships in the 100-metre butterfly. At the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, he won a bronze medal. In 2009, he became European champion, and in 2011 a silver medallist at the European Championships. At the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, he took fourth place, and in 2013 and 2014 he won bronze medals at the World Championships and European Championships respectively.
According to his family, Anton was distinguished by his kindness, sincerity, sense of responsibility and active nature, and was calm, even-tempered and sociable.
In 2024, he joined the army, defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. He carried out combat missions in the Southern-Slobozhanske sector as part of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For his bravery, Anton Stabrovskyi was awarded the Decoration of the President of Ukraine — the Order “For Courage” III class. He is survived by his parents, son, brother, sister and other family members.
