The war has claimed the life of Mykola Kostyrko, a security section controller at the “Lvivoblenergo” enterprise. The hero sacrificed his life defending Ukraine from Russian aggression.
Mykola Kostyrko was born on May 25, 1975, in the village of Maynychi, Sambir district, Lviv region. He graduated from Drohobych Secondary School No. 2 and later worked as an electrician at the Drohobych “Skhema” plant. On January 2, 2002, Mykola joined the “Lvivoblenergo” team.
On December 1, 2023, he joined the defense of Ukraine. He underwent training in Vasylkiv, Kyiv region, and performed combat missions as part of the 95th Air Assault Brigade on the front lines.
On February 3, 2024, Mykola Kostyrko was declared missing in action. Later, his comrades reported that he had died on February 2 during a combat mission. Only recently was his body recovered and identified.
Farewell and Burial
On December 31, 2024, Mykola’s coffin will be brought to his hometown of Drohobych. At 11:30 a.m., the funeral convoy will be met at the Heroes’ Intersection. The body will then be taken to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church on Volodymyr Velykyi Street for a memorial service and funeral rites. The hero will be buried at the cemetery on Pylyp Orlyk Street.
Mykola Kostyrko is survived by his wife Natalia and two sons, Vitaliy and Serhiy.
