From 12 October, a new protocol for notifying the population about air threats has come into force in Lviv region. The “Air raid alert” signal is now accompanied by voice messages that indicate the level of danger — yellow or red. This was announced during a briefing by Ivan Mysak, chief specialist of the department for emergencies, defence and mobilisation work.
When a yellow danger level is declared, which is used in the event of a threat from attack drones, the signal will sound separately in individual districts of the region. The voice message will last for about 30 seconds and will be repeated three times.
The red level will be used in the event of a missile or combined missile-and-drone threat, as well as during massive drone attacks. In that case, the signal will sound simultaneously across the entire region for one minute and will be repeated twice.
The procedure for cancelling an air-raid alert has also changed. The message indicating that the alert has ended will be broadcast without the preceding “Attention everyone” signal. This message will last 20 seconds and will be repeated twice.
