Major Oleksandr Verbynets from Truskavets was known as an exemplary officer who dedicated his life to service in the militia and police. He participated in the combat operations in eastern Ukraine, where he was killed as a result of a drone attack by enemy forces near Kramatorsk.
On the day of the tragedy, 29 March, friends, family, and comrades gathered at the Crossroads of Heroes to pay tribute to the fallen hero. Several priests conducted a memorial service, recalling his contribution to the community and the volunteer groups he was part of.
Oleksandr was born on 6 November 1978 and during his career in Truskavets, he became a role model for many young police officers. He continued to serve in the east after the reform of the law enforcement agencies.
Oleksandr… yesterday was but a day, And today — silence as if from stone.
These lines were dedicated by the friends of the deceased, who gathered to accompany him on his final journey. The burial will take place in the village of Berezdivtsi of the Novorozdil community.
