Defender of Ukraine, Drohobych native Petro Badetskyi, has joined the ranks of the heavenly army. Born on 12 March 1987 in Drohobych, he studied at Secondary School No. 16 and later at the College of Statistics. During the full-scale war from September 2025, Petro served in unit A4962.
Tragically, on 15 December 2025, during an enemy shelling, he sustained a shrapnel-induced cranial injury. He subsequently received treatment in Zaporizhzhia, Truskavets, and Drohobych. The warrior’s life was cut short suddenly on 30 March 2026 at the Sich comprehensive rehabilitation centre.
He is survived by his mother, son, two brothers, sister, grandfather, and grandmother. Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma, and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych express their sincere condolences to the family and loved ones.
The Parastas will take place on 31 March at 19:00 in the chapel of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, and the funeral service will be held on 1 April at 11:00. The Hero will be buried at the cemetery on Pylypa Orlyka Street. Eternal memory to the Hero!
