In Truskavets, a tragic event took place — the community bid farewell to Hero Semen Letnyanchyn. This news is particularly significant for local residents, as it once again reminds them of the losses each family bears in the conditions of war. Semen was only 36 years old when he died during combat. His farewell from the world occurred on a day when the heart of the community is filled with sorrow, support, and gratitude — reports stated this on Facebook.
Semen Letnyanchyn was born in the picturesque village of Hrushiv. Raised in a devout family, he held a place of pride among his fellow villagers. Semen’s parents raised him to be an honest, responsible, and fair person, as Father Yaroslav Shafran recalls.
Until the tragic date, Semen was considered missing since August 2024. His death was confirmed after almost a year and a half of uncertainty. His last breath was taken on Donetsk soil, on the very day of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
Many people attended the funeral: colleagues, classmates, neighbours, government representatives, and concerned residents of Truskavets. They all shared in the grief and supported the Hero’s family with their prayers and words of sympathy. Semen was buried in the Alley of Honour alongside other fallen Heroes who perished for Ukraine. “Eternal memory” echoed in the streets as Semen’s body bid farewell to his home for the last time.
A poem remains in memory, recited by Father Yaroslav Shafran:
“You did not leave that battle,
You did not fall to your knees,
You did everything so that,
Ukraine may never cease.”
