The brutal war continues to take the lives of Ukraine’s finest people. The Sokal community has received tragic confirmation of the loss of its fellow resident — soldier Andrii Vasylovych Vasyliuk.
While carrying out a combat mission on July 23, 2024, near the settlement of Vozdvyzhenka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, the serviceman was killed, remaining faithful to his military oath and to Ukraine until the very end. Andrii Vasyliuk served as a crew member of the 1st mechanized squad, 3rd mechanized platoon, 8th mechanized company, 3rd mechanized battalion of military unit A4941.
Until March 4, 2026, the defender had been considered missing in action. Only after a DNA examination was it officially confirmed that the soldier had died.
Andrii Vasyliuk was born on January 22, 1981, in the city of Sokal. He received his basic secondary education at Sokal Secondary School No. 4. After graduating from school, he studied at the Trade and Economics University in Lviv.
In 2013, Andrii got married and continued living in Sokal. Together with his wife Nataliia, they became parents of four children. In civilian life, he was a highly skilled tinsmith. Together with his father, he completed roofing work on many churches and buildings across the Sokal area. His family and acquaintances will remember him as a hardworking and sincere man with golden hands.
Andrii Vasyliuk voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 6, 2024.

- his son Danylo;
- his daughters Olha, Zoriana, and Yana;
- his relatives, friends, and fellow soldiers.
Bright, courageous, and genuine — this is how Andrii Vasyliuk will forever remain in the memory of his loved ones, acquaintances, and the entire community.
