Velyki Mosty community honours Ihor Kupetskyi on the second anniversary of his death

In the Velyki Mosty community, two years have passed since defender Ihor Kupetskyi, who gave his life for Ukraine, was killed in the war. Today, the community’s residents remember him with pain and gratitude.

Ihor Bohdanovych Kupetskyi was born on 15 July 1989. His childhood and youth passed in the village of Dvirtsi, which became his home. Ihor was known for his diligence, sense of responsibility and kindness. Having trained as a carpenter, he worked with wood, supported himself and helped his parents, made plans for the future and cherished his loved ones.

When the full-scale war began and the country needed defending, Ihor joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On 8 July 2024 he was called up for military service. At first he served as a gunner-machine gunner, and later as a driver-electrician in the headquarters of a mortar battery of a mechanised battalion. He took part in combat operations during the Kursk campaign.

On 24 October 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Vesele in Kursk region, Ihor Kupetskyi went missing. For his family, a long period of uncertainty and waiting began. His mother and sister prayed and hoped for his return, living in the hope of hearing his voice again and embracing him.

Nine months later, the family received tragic news: DNA analysis officially confirmed Ihor’s death. It was established that his life was cut short as a result of mine-explosive injuries sustained in the combat zone.

On 5 August 2025, the defender’s body was brought back to his native village of Dvirtsi, where he found eternal rest in his home soil. Residents of the community accompanied him on his final journey, paying tribute to the heroism of their fellow villager.

Posthumously, Ihor Kupetskyi was awarded the honorary title of “Hero of the Velyki Mosty Territorial Community”. In this way, the community paid homage to his courage and self-sacrifice, underlining that the memory of him will remain alive among his fellow villagers and comrades-in-arms.

The name of Ihor Kupetskyi is forever inscribed on the roll of those who gave the most precious thing of all for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. In the Velyki Mosty community, people bow their heads before his feat and remember the defender with gratitude.
