The Drohobych community has received sad news — Yuriy Karpman, a defender of Ukraine, passed away on 9 April 2026. He was born on 16 November 1973 in the village of Ivankiv in the Kyiv region, but from the age of 5, he lived in Drohobych. He graduated from the local school, mechanical college, and served in the army.
Yuriy worked in the security of the Oil Refinery, but with the onset of the ATO, he decided to defend his native land. Since 2016, he signed a contract with military unit A1108 and served in the artillery unit in eastern Ukraine. Simultaneously, he graduated from the Ivan Franko Drohobych State Pedagogical University.
During his service, Yuriy developed a severe illness, and since October 2025, he underwent treatment, which unfortunately did not yield results. He died at his home, leaving behind his grieving mother, son, daughter-in-law, grandson, and relatives.
The Parastas will take place on 9 April at 18:00 in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the funeral — on 10 April at 13:00 at the Alley of Glory. Eternal memory to the Hero of Ukraine!
