Yuriy Sokolovych from Truskavets Killed in Battle for Ukraine

A year ago, on 24 March 2025, Yuriy Sokolovych, a brave defender of Ukraine, was killed. His life was cut short during a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Olhivka in the Kursk region. This was reported by the Truskavets City Council.

Yuriy was born on 6 February 1980 in Truskavets. He studied at local schools and later entered the Drohobych Music College named after V. Barvinsky, where he graduated with honours. He then continued his studies at the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky in Kyiv.

He worked in the Honoured Symphony Orchestra of the National Radio Company of Ukraine, where he actively performed both in Ukraine and abroad. In 2008, he married and moved to Kryvyi Rih, where his children Marko and Sofia were born.

Since 2008, Yuriy worked in the municipal wind orchestra, where he was highly respected. On 27 May 2024, he voluntarily went to the front, where he proved himself as a brave and reliable comrade.

His wife recalls: “You are an incredible dad to Marko and Sofiyka, a wonderful son to your parents, and a caring husband! The memory of you will live on in every day. May your soul find peace, and I will carefully preserve everything we had.”
