Defender Andriy Firtsovych Returns to Ivano-Frankove on His Shield

To the settlement of Ivano-Frankove in Lviv region returns on his shield local resident Andriy Bohdanovych Firtsovych, a serviceman of the 117th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade. For more than a year and seven months he was considered missing in action, but DNA analysis has confirmed his death.

According to official information, Andriy Firtsovych was killed on 21 November 2024 while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Pustynka in the Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region. Until the very end he remained faithful to the military oath and fulfilled his duty to defend the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Ukraine.

Andriy was born and raised in the settlement of Ivano-Frankove, finished the local school and trained as a carpenter. He did his compulsory military service in the army and worked as a carpenter, a builder and at a meat-processing plant, conscientiously providing for his family.

For his dedicated service to the state, Andriy Bohdanovych was awarded the distinction of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine “For Exemplary Service” and held the honorary status of war veteran.

For his family and friends he will forever remain a kind, sincere, cheerful and witty man, a loving father and caring grandfather. He is mourned by his mother, Mariia Volodymyrivna, his wife, Nadiia, his sons, Bohdan and Stepan, his daughter, Anastasiia, his son-in-law, Dmytro, his grandchildren, Dianka, Yanusia and Oliviia, his brother, Yurii, with his family, as well as his godchildren, Volodymyr, Andrii and Roman.

The Ivano-Frankove Settlement Council, on behalf of the entire community, has extended its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen defender, noting that the bright memory of him will forever remain in the hearts of his fellow countrymen.

The date and time of the repatriation of the serviceman’s body and the funeral service will be announced separately.
