Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to two defenders – Orest Brin and Mykhailo Malkush

Tomorrow, on 29 August, Lviv residents and visitors are encouraged to join the city’s ceremonies of farewell to the fallen defenders.

Orest Brin and Mykhailo Malkush “Shershen” were killed in action while defending Ukraine. The mayor’s office asks to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during the time of farewell to the soldiers.

The farewell and funeral service for the defenders Orest Brin and Mykhailo Malkush will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul in Lviv, and at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The soldiers will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Biographical information about the defenders

Orest Brin (06.06.1988 – 25.08.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 80 of the Lviv City Council. He received a degree in management from the Institute of Management, Psychology and Security of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

He worked as a service manager at Foxtrot Limited Liability Company and as a sales manager at Star Service Company Limited Liability Company. In his spare time, he loved travelling, hiking and rafting. According to his family, he was a smiling, friendly, kind and sincere man, and a super dad to his wife and children.

During the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine as a member of the 103rd separate brigade of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi Territorial Defence Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions in the Sumy region.

Orest Brin is survived by his wife, daughter, son, parents and two grandmothers.

 

Mykhailo Malkush “Shershen” (22.11.1969 – 23.08.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №62 in Lviv. Lviv. He received his vocational education as a mechanic-assembler of electronic equipment and devices at the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational Polytechnic School”.

He worked at the Lviv Regional Council’s Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Centre, a municipal non-profit enterprise. According to his family, he was very kind, sincere, hardworking, loving, and always helped people.

During the full-scale Russian invasion, he defended the state in the ranks of the 3rd Border Guard Detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhen Pikus of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He performed combat missions in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Mykhailo Malkush is survived by his sister, brothers and nephews.
