On Sunday, 20 September, the Sheptytskyi community will hold the Day of Honour for Families of Fallen Defenders of Ukraine. Residents of the community are invited to join shared events of remembrance and support for the families of fallen soldiers.
At 08:50, the community will gather on the Viche Square in the town of Sheptytskyi. From 09:00 to 09:30, participants will honour the Heroes with a minute of silence and a joint prayer.
At the same time, from 09:00 to 10:30, the “Letter of Honour to a Hero’s Family” campaign will take place on Viche Square. Tables will be set up where everyone willing — friends, neighbours, colleagues and community residents — will be able to write words of support to the families of the fallen. Those who are unable to come on Sunday can leave their letters in special boxes in the “House of the Warrior” and on the first floor of the town council. The collected messages will be compiled into a shared album, which will be kept in the museum room of the “House of the Warrior”.
From 10:30 to 13:30, a commemorative motor rally is planned. Columns of vehicles will follow several routes: the town of Sheptytskyi – Alley of Heroes – Pozdymyr – Volsvyn; Ostriv – Boryatyn – Dobryachyn; Mezhyrichchia – Silets – Sosnivka. Transport will be organised to take the families of the fallen to the Bendyuzke cemetery.
At the same time, from 10:30 to 13:30, the “Candle of Remembrance” campaign will take place at the community’s cemeteries, with memorial prayers for the repose of the souls of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine.
The Day of Honour programme will conclude with a concert in the park of culture and recreation, which will run from 13:30 to 15:00. A creative activity for children, “Children Remember”, will be organised: they will create drawings, letters, paper sunflowers and other symbols of remembrance. All the works will be brought together in a joint installation.
