Lake “Korsa” in Bryukhovychi Free Again

This summer, Lake “Korsa” in Bryukhovychi will once again welcome visitors free of charge. Despite ongoing legal proceedings regarding the lease of the territory, access remains open to all who wish to visit.

Officials from the Lviv City Council explain that legal cases are being considered concerning a decision by the Bryukhovychi Village Council, which leased 4.5 hectares of land for 25 years. Simultaneously, the legality of constructions around the lake is being contested. The outcomes of these cases have a significant impact on the ability to maintain the area.

Yevhen Boiko, the executive committee manager, notes that this temporary decision allows the city to reduce expenses. The leaseholder, Albina Savchuk, shoulders the costs of maintaining both the paid and free zones. It is reported that this saves the city approximately 10 million hryvnias annually.

Currently, the leaseholder is preparing the lake for the season, which will commence on 15 June.

According to Helaida Pajonkewych, director of the legal department, there are two ongoing court cases regarding illegal constructions around the lake and the lease rights. In parallel, the city council is working with the environmental department to ensure that all community water bodies are free for public access.
