
On July 14 around 2:00 PM, a 52-year-old resident of Sokal, Lviv region, went missing while swimming in the Western Bug River near Khmelnytskoho Street in Sokal. Witnesses reported that the man dove into the river but never resurfaced.
The incident was reported to the duty officer of the Central Rescue and Diving Service of Lviv region on July 16. On July 17, divers from the emergency rescue mobile unit conducted a search of the riverbed.
The man’s body was discovered approximately 500 meters from the spot where he had dived. Using a boat and diving gear, the rescuers recovered the body and transported it to the shore, where it was handed over to the National Police for further investigation.
