
Volodymyr Zaremba, a celebrated Ukrainian woodcarver and sculptor, passed away at the age of 92. A native of Stoyaniv village, he lived his final days in the village of Velyke within the Sokal community of Lviv region.
🔸 Life Journey:
- Born on October 21, 1933, in Stoyaniv, Radekhiv district.
- Graduated from the Lviv Agricultural Institute and initially worked as an agronomist in Radekhiv and later at a fur farm in Velyke.
- Eventually followed his passion and became a carver at the Lviv Art Combine.
🔸 Artistic Legacy:
- Though self-taught, his works are preserved in:
- The Museum of the History of Religion in Lviv,
- The Solomiya Krushelnytska Musical Memorial Museum.
- His wooden crucifix remains a highlight of the church in Velyke.
- Exhibitions of his art were held in Chervonohrad, Sokal, Lviv, Kyiv, and abroad in Poland.
- He received numerous honors and awards for his artistic contributions.

The burial of Volodymyr Zaremba will take place on February 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the village of Velyke.
