In the Yavoriv region, the memory of Osip Makovey was commemorated
Today, on August 26, the memory of Osyp Makovey, an outstanding countryman of the Yavorovo region, was commemorated at the Osip Makovey Manor Museum on the occasion of his 155th birthday.
Culture workers of the Yavoriv community recreated the favorite heroes of Osip Makovey in the memory of the audience.
People’s Deputy of Ukraine Pavlo Bakunets, First Deputy Chairman of Yavoriv Regional District Volodymyr Dzyunka, Chairman of the District Council Mykola Romanyuk, Deputy Mayor of Yavoriv Vitaly Denega took part in the event.
Also during the event, Pavlo Bakunets awarded Danyila Osypivna Misyuk, the director of the Osip Makovey Museum, with an honorary diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The event ended with a joint performance of the song “We are Haidamaki”, written by our famous Galician Orpheus.
Reference: Osyp Makovey is a poet, prose writer, publicist, literary critic, editor of many periodicals, an experienced teacher and a prominent social and cultural figure of the end of the 19th century – the beginning of XX century. Osyp Makovei was born on August 23, 1867 in the town of Yavoriv, Lviv Region, in the family of a peasant. After elementary school, he studied at the Ukrainian gymnasium in Lviv, and then at the philosophy faculty of Lviv University.
