About 14 thousand people visited Shevchenkivskyi Grove in Lviv on Easter and Watering Monday.
This was reported by Mykhailo Zakopets, director of the Klymentiy Sheptytsky Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Lviv.
“There were no loud celebrations. Visitors drove traditional hayivkas and got acquainted with ancient traditions. And yesterday, on Watering Monday, the children also had a little watering.
Over the course of these days, besides Lviv residents, the Grove was visited by people from many parts of Ukraine, including the temporarily occupied territories. There were soldiers with their families, families of fallen defenders,” said Zakopets.
At the same time, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi emphasized the importance of preserving Ukrainian traditions.
“For the third year in a row, Lviv has not been celebrating Easter. But the groves, watering and exchange of various traditions remain in Shevchenko’s Grove. Our children should not forget and continue our Ukrainian traditions. The culture of a nation that can never be destroyed by the enemy. Thank you! Christ is risen!” Andriy Sadovyi wrote on his Facebook page.
As a reminder, more than 10 thousand people visited Shevchenkivskyi Hai on Easter. This is the largest number of visitors ever recorded in the museum.
