The Largest Fish Processing Plant Launched in Lviv Region

The largest fish processing plant in Eastern Europe was opened in the town of Ivano-Frankove in the Lviv region.

The new plant, established by PJSC ‘Lviv Regional Fish Production Combine’, specializes in the cultivation and processing of freshwater fish. Construction began in 2021 with its own investments. The complex, with an area of 6,800 m², meets international quality and safety standards.

The plant can process up to 25 tons of raw materials daily, producing 12.5 tons of finished products. The production is based on its own farmed fish and imported raw materials. ‘This is important: providing jobs for people, paying high official salaries, responsibly and honestly paying taxes,’ said Yuriy Kholod, acting chairman of the Lviv Regional Council.

Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Vysotsky was present at the opening, emphasizing that this is a strategic step in the development of national aquaculture. ‘We are improving the recipes and striving to change the culture of fish product consumption in our country,’ he added.

The plant integrated international quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000), which allows for export. Upon reaching full capacity, 283 new jobs will be created. The enterprise plans to expand its export range and implement biotechnologies.
