In the Lviv region, a 19-year-old resident of Sheptytskyi has been notified of suspicion of possessing and distributing pornographic materials, including videos involving children. This is reported on the basis of the investigation data of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation established that the young man was an active member of a themed community on Telegram and regularly exchanged prohibited files with other users. At the end of December last year, he posted in the group’s general chat a pornographic video file for further exchange for similar content.
A few days later, in the same group, the suspect distributed two more video files containing images of sexual acts involving children. In October this year, law enforcement officers, using specialised software tools, identified the resident of Sheptytskyi and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During searches, electronic data carriers containing a significant volume of prohibited media materials were seized from the man. The presence of such content has been confirmed by expert examination findings.
Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the detainee has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 301 and Part 3 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (possession and distribution of pornographic video products, including child pornography). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support provided by the Cybercrime Counteraction Directorate in the Lviv region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Investigative actions are ongoing, and other individuals who may be involved in this unlawful activity are being identified. In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
