The former director of the agricultural state enterprise NAAS is accused of embezzling over 800,000 hryvnias. Prosecutors from the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office have already sent the relevant indictment to court. The illegal actions involved striking a deal with a private firm, to which the former official handed over more than 1,370 tonnes of wheat for storage, and later agreed to pay a large amount for an alleged storage debt.
Investigations revealed that in August 2022, the state enterprise transferred the grain to a private company. However, by late 2024, legal claims surfaced for more than 1 million hryvnias. In the end, the former director accepted this claim, despite the actual debt being around 200,000 hryvnias, and allowed an excessive payment to be made.
The accused faces liability for the misappropriation of another person’s property through abuse of official duties, which occurred on a large scale during martial law. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by Police Department No. 1 of the Sheptytskyy District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region, with support from the SBU.
