
In Sheptytskyi, a 30-year-old local resident informed law enforcement officers that he had been robbed by three unknown individuals. The perpetrators were identified and exposed by the police, as reported by the Sheptytskyi District Police Department with the involvement of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in the early hours of 8 June, three local residents aged 15, 16 and 17 deliberately provoked a verbal altercation with the victim. After that, the oldest teenager began striking the man in the face with his hands and grabbed him by the neck, while the other two seized his rucksack, which contained a mobile phone, money and other belongings, and fled.
To solve the crime, officers from the criminal police, investigators, staff of other units of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department, as well as employees of the criminal analysis department of the Lviv region police, were brought in. After reviewing footage from CCTV cameras of the “Safe Lviv region” system, law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the suspects and seized physical evidence from them.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators notified the three suspects that they are under suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery). The sanction of this article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
