In Lviv region, 20 fires extinguished in a day, most of them in ecosystems

Over a 24-hour period from 29 to 30 August, rescuers in Lviv region were called out 20 times to tackle fires.

According to the emergency services, 14 outbreaks occurred in natural ecosystems: dry grass, shrubs and other vegetation were burning.

The State Emergency Service (DSNS) stresses that fires in ecosystems often start with a small ignition, but due to dry vegetation, wind and human carelessness they can very quickly turn into large-scale blazes.

Rescuers are urging residents of Lviv region to act responsibly: do not burn dry vegetation or rubbish, do not leave campfires unextinguished and do not throw cigarette ends onto dry grass.

The emergency services remind people that a single careless act can cause a major fire and inflict significant damage on the environment.
