One woman killed and four people injured in Renault and Peugeot collision in Sheptytskyi

A road traffic accident in Sheptytskyi left one person dead and four others injured. The collision occurred on June 13 at around 10:40 a.m. on Radekhivska Street.

According to preliminary information provided by law enforcement officers, two vehicles collided:

  • a Renault Megane driven by a 35-year-old woman;
  • a Peugeot Partner driven by a 58-year-old woman.

The driver of the Peugeot Partner died at the scene as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash.

The Renault Megane driver and three passengers from the vehicle were taken to hospital. Those injured included two boys aged eight and eleven and a 36-year-old man.

Police open criminal proceedings

Investigators from the Lviv Region Police unit responsible for criminal cases involving children opened proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article concerns violations of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation requirements by drivers.

The offence is punishable by three to eight years of imprisonment. A court may also ban the convicted person from driving for up to three years.

Officers from the Sheptytskyi District Police Department are continuing to establish all the causes and circumstances of the collision.
