In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of a two-year-old boy. This horrifying crime took place in July 2021 in one of the villages in the Kryvyi Rih district. The convicted took advantage of the absence of adults to enter the house of his former partner, where there were only children: a 7-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy.
Outbursts of jealousy and a conflict with the woman led to tragic consequences. Tying the children’s hands and feet, the perpetrator taped the girl’s mouth to prevent her from calling for help. Threatening the mother with the murder of her children, he demanded money, to which she was willing to comply to save them.
But the man went further. In front of the sister, he inflicted four stab wounds on the two-year-old boy, after which he stole money and a telephone and fled. The girl found the strength to free herself and call for help. The assailant was apprehended the same day, but the boy, with severe injuries, died in hospital four days later.
The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment, emphasising that no crime against a child will go unpunished.
