
In Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, two officers of the Solomianske Police Department and two civilians – a 47-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy – were killed in a road traffic accident. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, the driver of a Mercedes, travelling at high speed, drove onto a pedestrian area. As a result of the collision, Senior Police Lieutenant Dmytro Bondarchuk and Police Lieutenant Denys Budchenko, who were on duty at the time, were killed.
The driver of the Mercedes is currently in intensive care. Two other men and a woman with injuries have been taken to hospital.
Senior Police Lieutenant Dmytro Bondarchuk was born on 4 July 2002 in the town of Boyarka, Kyiv region. After studying at the National Academy of Internal Affairs, he joined the police, working in the Metropolitan Police Department and later as a senior community police officer at the Solomianske Department. Colleagues described him as a responsible and professional law enforcement officer.
Police Lieutenant Denys Budchenko was born on 19 March 2005 in Rivne region. After graduating from the National Academy of Internal Affairs, he became a community police officer at the Solomianske Department. The National Police note that despite his young age, he had already proved himself to be a conscientious and principled police officer.
The National Police of Ukraine expressed condolences to the families, loved ones, friends and colleagues of the fallen police officers, as well as the civilian victims, stating that they share the pain of this irreparable loss.
