An obsolete munition was discovered on 6th April in the forest near the village of Lopatin in the Sheptytskyi district. It was there that a woman, during a walk, came across a dangerous object resembling a mortar shell from the Second World War.
Acting responsibly, she immediately reported the find, which prompted a swift response from the rescuers. A rescue officer, upon examining the object, determined its origin and took safety measures by cordoning off the area with warning tape.
The State Emergency Service reminds us that such discoveries can pose a lethal threat even after decades due to corrosion and material degradation. In case of discovering similar items, it is imperative to report immediately by dialling ‘101’ or ‘102’.
