
A 40-year-old Lviv resident who fired shots on Shevchenka Street at night has been notified of suspicion of hooliganism involving the use of firearms under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Procedural supervision in the proceedings is being carried out by the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred in July this year at around 23:30 on Shevchenka Street in Lviv. The suspect, being in a state of intoxication, acting out of hooligan motives and displaying a flagrant disregard for society, without any reason fired nine shots into the air from a 12-gauge SULUN smoothbore shotgun which he had acquired in advance.
According to the investigation, these actions led to a gross breach of public order. At the request of the prosecution, the court chose a preventive measure for the man in the form of detention in custody with the possibility of bail being posted.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proved in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
