In Lviv an artillery shell and grenade from the Second World War were destroyed

In Lviv, the pyrotechnic unit of the Lviv Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) on 10 August removed and destroyed two explosive devices dating back to the Second World War. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region.

While walking in a wooded area near the Ryasne-2 residential district, local residents discovered a 76 mm artillery shell. Another dangerous find — an RGD-33 hand grenade — was found in a wooded area on Zamarsynivska Street in Lviv.

Pyrotechnic specialists of the Lviv Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed and destroyed both munitions in the prescribed manner.

The State Emergency Service reminds the public that if a suspicious or potentially explosive object is discovered, it must not be touched, moved, dismantled or thrown into a fire, as this may cause an explosion and serious consequences.

Any such find must be reported immediately by calling “101” or “102”, and people should move away to a safe distance.
