
In Sheptytskyi, a 32-year-old local resident has been notified of suspicion of the unlawful acquisition and storage for the purpose of sale, committed repeatedly, and sale of the narcotic drug methadone. The criminal proceedings are being investigated under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the man unlawfully acquired the narcotic drug “methadone” for subsequent sale and stored it at his place of residence. In early July this year, via a parcel locker in Sheptytskyi, he sent a parcel containing methadone, having concealed it in torn clothing wrapped in cardboard.
The buyer received the parcel in Lviv. Calculated in terms of pure substance, the narcotic drug had a mass of over 0.6 g, and its value amounted to 1500 UAH. After the parcel was received, the drug was seized by police officers.
A few days later, during a search of the suspect’s house, law enforcement officers discovered and seized another batch of methadone, as well as a package containing a green, plant-based substance, presumably cannabis. According to the investigation, the prohibited substances were stored for the purpose of repeated sale.
At the request of the prosecution, the suspect has been placed under a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until his or her guilt is proved in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
