
In the town of Sheptytskyi, a 44-year-old resident of the district centre is to stand trial, accused of hooliganism involving the use of a bladed weapon. According to the investigation, he stabbed a passer-by, an offence for which he faces between three and seven years’ imprisonment.
The incident took place on 20 May at around 00:40 on Stepana Bandery Street in Sheptytskyi. According to law enforcement officers, the accused provoked a conflict with a 38-year-old resident of the district centre, during which he stabbed him in the leg.
Doctors diagnosed the victim with a deep incised wound to the upper third of the thigh. Police located the suspect and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under the procedural supervision of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism) has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court, which will decide on the sentence.
