In Sheptytskyi, a 24-year-old local resident is to stand trial, accused of stealing equipment, goods and cash from a shop. The indictment has been submitted to the court under the procedural supervision of the prosecution authorities.
According to the investigation, on 29 April at about one o’clock in the morning, the man broke the entrance door and entered the premises of one of the shops on Shevchenko Avenue in the city of Sheptytskyi. From there he stole money, a monitor, a system unit, a bank terminal, a scanner, a Wi-Fi router, other equipment, as well as goods, after which he fled.
The total value of the stolen property, according to preliminary data, is more than 56 thousand hryvnias. Officers from the criminal police, investigators and staff from other units of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department were involved in solving the crime. Law enforcement officers quickly established the suspect’s whereabouts and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings opened under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft) has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to the court for consideration. Under the article he is charged with, the accused faces a sentence of between five and eight years’ imprisonment.
The report also reminds readers that under martial law, the maximum penalties are provided for committing theft, robbery, aggravated robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation or embezzlement of property, or taking possession of it through abuse of office.
