A 34-year-old resident of Sheptytsky, previously convicted of murder, faces life imprisonment for a brutal attack that left a 44-year-old woman dead and her 40-year-old partner seriously injured.
The incident occurred on September 27 at approximately 2:25 PM on Taras Shevchenko Avenue in the district center. The suspect, without any apparent reason, attacked the couple sitting on a bench, inflicting multiple stab wounds before fleeing the scene.
The woman succumbed to her injuries in the hospital, while her partner was hospitalized in critical condition. Both victims were residents of the Zakarpattia region.
Police swiftly located and detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigations revealed that he had a history of criminal offenses, including a previous conviction for murder.
The pretrial investigation, conducted under Articles 15(2), subparagraphs 1, 7, and 13 of Article 115(2) (Attempted premeditated murder of two persons with hooligan motives by a previously convicted murderer) and subparagraphs 7 and 13 of Article 115(2) (Premeditated murder with hooligan motives), has been completed. The indictment has been submitted to court.
The accused faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
