In Sheptytskyi, an indictment has been submitted to court against three local residents aged 19, 25 and 44, who are accused of a series of thefts from vehicles. This was reported by the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the men acted together and, during February this year, robbed several cars left in busy areas of Sheptytskyi. In particular, they smashed the window of a BMW near the Central City Hospital and stole 500,000 UAH from the interior.
A few weeks later, according to the investigation, the suspects committed another theft near a fitness centre: having picked the lock, they gained access to an Infiniti and took cash in various currencies totalling more than 10,000 UAH. On the same day, near the People’s House in the central part of the city, they allegedly used lock picks to get into a Mercedes-Benz GLS 400 and seized more than 140,000 UAH.
The total amount of property damage caused to the victims, according to the investigation’s calculations, exceeds 650,000 UAH. All three have been charged with theft committed repeatedly, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, involving unlawful entry into a storage place and during martial law (Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the investigative unit of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region. In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
