
In Sheptytskyi, law enforcement officers have exposed three local teenagers suspected of robbing a 30-year-old passer-by in the early hours of 8 June. The victim himself reported the crime to the police.
According to the investigation, three youths aged 15, 16 and 17 deliberately provoked a verbal confrontation with the man. After this, the oldest of them began punching the victim in the face and grabbed him by the neck, while the other two took his rucksack, which contained a mobile phone, money and other belongings, and fled.
To solve the crime, officers from the criminal police, investigators and other staff of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department, as well as employees of the criminal analysis unit of the Lviv Region Police, were brought in. Having examined footage from the “Safe Lviv Region” CCTV system, the police established the whereabouts of the suspects and seized physical evidence from them.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators have notified the youths that they are suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery). The sanction of this article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
