
In Sokal, on Heroiv UPA Street, an 18-year-old passer-by was robbed. According to law enforcement officers, the suspect in the crime has already been detained and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The report to the police was received on 17 September at about 12:30 from an 18-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district. He stated that on Heroiv UPA Street in Sokal, an unknown man openly took possession of his mobile phone and fled.
Officers from the criminal police, investigators and staff of other units of Police Station No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department were involved in the search for the perpetrator. Preliminary police findings established that a 21-year-old resident of Sheptytskyi was involved in the robbery.
During search operations, police officers established the suspect’s whereabouts and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Material evidence was seized from the man.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the suspect that he is under suspicion of committing an offence under Part 4 of Article 186 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for punishment of seven to ten years’ imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
